We have had teams before in this first year of Speed Rank that were impressive as a whole, but Langham Creek baseball really stands out. The 60 yard dash is not as affluent as the 40 but for baseball players it is the standard. Most scouts say they are pleased with anything under 7 seconds. MLB average is tended to be in the 6.8-6.9 range, under this is above average and under 6.5 is plus speed. Langham Creek has a pair of athlete's who can both run in the 6.4 range. Center fielder, Ryan Rand ran a 6.45 and teammate infielder Ben Taylor ran a 6.48. Not only did they run very well... Rand threw 91 mph and Taylor reached the 90 mph mark as well. Rand is significant in the fact that he is 6'4 and left handed. Left handed players of such stature and athleticism are not common. Rand is committed to Texas A&M and a blooming prospect. Taylor is a lean, quick twitch, athlete who has a great shortstop build. One of the most intriguing players is catcher Brandon Montalvo. The 6'1 180 lb. Montalvo ran a 6.67 and threw 89 mph. A catcher with his size, arm, and speed will always be of value. 2014 LHP Aaron Fletcher also consistently threw 88 mph. Fletcher at a young age is shows a great arm and size to go with it. All in all... Langham Creek had 6 players throw over 85 mph and 10 players run under 7 in the 60. The team was ranked #3 in the state last year and a threat coming into the 2012 season.
